Here at Freya's Piggy Sanctuary, I know that sometimes all it takes to change a life is a little bit of love.
Since the founding in 2016, I have been determined to make an impact on the lives of all the piggies I take in. I want to give them the best life I can, and would love for you to share in the happiness.
My name is Lizzie and I am 34; based in Reading, England. (Caversham) I suffer with a lot of health conditions which I have had for over ten years, the hardest of which includes Fibromyalgia, ASD/ADHD and Severe Anxiety Disorder. All of these make it near impossible to work: I had to give up my job as a chef back in December 2019, which I had done for around 6 years. On my bad health days I can just about function to look after all the piggies. i love to do gaming and crochet as well as playing piano and guitar (which I taught myself by ear!) and painting. Basically anything arty I love! I have recently starting doing polymer clay.
I also have a rescued Gecko called Gex.
I have been able to build groups of pigs where everyone is happy!

BOARDING and nail trims
I offer nail trims at £5 per pig.
Please message me to book a time and day you are able to bring them to me to be done, thank you.
For boarding I charge £10 a day. You will need to bring the pigs to me for drop off and collection.
Please bring bedding, food and hay and any veggies they like. I am in Caversham.
I also sell pea flakes. £2.50 for 100g.
I am small animal trained, I did the training when i was a manager of pets corner for a few months.
Please note the pigs are brought to me at your own risk. I will not be held responsible or liable in a case of an accident whilst in my care. I do have a local vet if anything were to occur and I will take them.

I will carry out checks to see if you have suitable housing for the guinea pigs and a good knowledge of how to look after them properly. If you do not have a cage I can provide one for a donation.

The adoption fee is £25 this is to cover the cost of the animal whilst in my care. Please note if you cannot look after your guinea pig(s) anymore that you get from me, i will happily take them back and find a new home for them. You must be able to take the pig to the vet if they are unwell. Sometimes it can be costly.

Essentials
Pellets
Burgess excel guinea pig with added vitamin c as guinea pigs don't produce vitamin c on their own. Water should always be available. Heygates rabbits choice is also suitable for guinea pigs as it has added vitamin c. Also science selective Is a good pellet. I have used pets at home nuggets as well.

Corner hay box
I use megazorb horse bedding and hay on top and put them in the corners of the cages.
Bowls
I go through a lot of bowls a day for their food and ready grass.
Tunnel
There are a few tunnels for enrichment in their cages.
Bottles
I make sure the pigs have ample amounts of bottles between them.
Ready grass
ready grass is not cheap but really good for the pigs teeth..
megazorb bedding
I use this to absorb the wee and that the hay sits on.
Nail clippers
The piggies get monthly nail trims
Brush
I brush the pigs with a soft bristle brush.
weigh scale
I weigh the pigs monthly to check their weights. I also make a spreadsheet of the information for my records.
